In this hands-on science class, we'll explore the amazing systems that keep us alive through labs, experiments, models, dissections, games, and real-world questions. We'll investigate how cells work, how DNA provides instructions for the body, how diseases spread, how the brain processes information, and how our organs work together every day. Students will examine their own cheek cells under the microscope, build models, participate in simulations, explore real animal organs, and complete several dissections, including a cow heart, sheep brain, and fetal pig. Along the way, we'll ask questions, make observations, and discover how the human body functions from the smallest cells to entire organ systems.
